If it made you emotional, I'd think it wasn't that "obligatory"...if you know what I mean.

The silent twin. It's so sad someone being alive and in pain but still can't be found

Many many books have made me cry, almost everything makes me cry, but I believe the first book that made me cry was the little princess by Francis hodgen. Oh gosh I adored it, it was so beautiful.

All of Nicholas Sparks' books can definitely start a good, long, deep, soulful cry for mel.

The first book that ever made me cry as a second grader and still makes me cry to this day is "Where the Red Fern Grows" by Wilson Rawls.

This love story of a young boy and his first pups, shares all the fun stories of being playful and hunting with his pups through the end of his puppy's lives and pulls right at my heartstrings. When I first read the book, I had not yet experienced the love a dog can truly bring into your life - I had only witnessed it through close friends and movies. It wasn't until I read the book again when our family got our first puppy when I was 18 and in college. A pup's love can truly radiate throughout their home and this book paints that picture perfectly in the Ozark Mountains.
Positively Seas the Day,
A. Ortencio :techie-reference:

Oh god. Have I cried while reading a book? Big yes.

The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton
When I was in middle school my first 'boy book crush' made me bawl like a baby. <3 Dallas Winston <3

Song of Achillles by Madeline Miller
I'm a big fan of mythology. I knew the ending. I saw it coming. So tell me, why did it still rip my heart apart?

And many a other.

*side note for all the beautiful Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, etc. fanfictions that have had me in tears*

Definitely the final Harry Potter book. It was the first series I ever read and the culmination of all those years with those characters was just too much.

I can not count the times that a book made me cry, I also can't count the times I felt my chest burns. But i can say some books which made me did that.
The catastrophic history of you and me by Jess rothenberg.
Oh god, i couldn't avoid the fact that i felt sadness and impotence because, well the principal character, a girl of my age was in an difficult situation....
You have read the book, seriously. 😪

No book has ever made me cry like No Greater Love by Danielle Steel. It is a fictional story based on the events of the sinking Titanic ship. The book was sad and emotional but it had a magical ending.

One that comes to me right away is The Handmaid’s Tale. When the main character Offred is discussing memories of her daughter, and visions of their once happy life together, I definitely get choked up. Now being a first-time mom I cannot fathom the idea of being separated from my daughter.

They Both Die At The End has emotionally damaged me beyond repair... I highly recommended it to anyone who wants their heart torn out plus it is a really great book.

The book that had me swimming in my own tears is called Malice by Danielle Steele. Very sad story in there.

The only book that ever made me cry was "Message in a Bottle." I just couldn't deal with the ending and how useless it all was. I've read other Nicholas Sparks books, but that one was just too much.
