Yes, I have gotten angry at many characters in books before, but the most memorable was the main character’s brother in “The Great Brain”
I would get very worked up while I was reading 😂

Yes, definitely. You know how people sit and watch scary movies while yelling at the characters "Don't go in there!!!!!!! Don't do that!!!!!!!! Don't trust him!!!!!!!".... That's me reading some books yelling at the characters.
Mad Hatter: "Have I gone mad?"
Alice: "I'm afraid so. You're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are.”

Second hand embarrassment is real, haha. If a character is ever doing something that's just way too embarrassing or obviously stupid it becomes so hard for me to keep reading. Even though I know it's realistic to have characters be imperfect, sometimes it's hard for me to like a character after they've made me feel so dumb with them, if that makes any sense.

Oh goodness, YES. I've been upset / furious with many fictional characters over countless books. I recall most recently, in the last book I've read -- Apollo's Raven by Linnea Tanner -- I was furious with Catrin's mother for various misjudgments / brash actions...

There are plenty of other times I could dig up if I really sat and thought about it, but to answer the question: Yes, I've been upset at characters multiple times.

Yes! Scarlett O'Hara from Gone with the wind (even though I love her very much) can definitely make you upset with some of the things she does. Happened basically every time she treated Rett the way she did and many many more times. I often just wanted to shout at her "He loves you, you goddam fool, and you love him!"
But I suppose that's part of what makes her Character and the novel itself so interesting.

Yes, I have. Sometimes you just have to set the book down and walk away for a minute.

Definitively. There was a series that I couldn't make it past the first book because I didn't agree with the choices that the protagonist made, which were completely different than the ones I would choose.

The first time I read Eragon, I was shocked when Eragon was trying to justify genocide. He spoke of wiping out an entire species based on their culture and history. Including this real-world topic into a fantasy book was a brilliant idea on the author's part. It was frustrating to read but it also gave me a peek into the mind of someone who holds the opinion that genocide is "okay" if delivered to a certain species. Many times we jump on the speaker's throat about their opinions. Although I completely disagree that genocide is ever okay, I loved reading Eragon's reasoning for his own opinions.

There are some characters that I absolutely hate because they do horrible things or it is just painful to witness their actions. Then there are characters I love to hate, the character is so well developed and their storyline is intense but the character itself is a horrible person. It does make it an interesting read though. Some examples would be Hugh in the Kate Daniels series or Joffrey in Game of Thrones, or even Brutus in the Troy Game.
