The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell.

I loved this book. A well-written and intriguing Gothic ghost story with sinister painted wooden figures and some shocking moments! An easy 4/4.

I am certainly NOT the target demographic for Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning. For a start, I have too many Y chromosomes and, secondly, I am legally old enough to vote and drink.

Moning clearly wants to portray herself as young and hip, right in touch with the 'now' generation, creating a total Barbie character like MacKayla (Mac) Lane and a sleazy bad-boy hunk like Jericho Barrons as her main characters.

The plot is hackneyed, really quite inane, and the dialogue is simply atrocious. As for the ending - spoiler alert - it says "please buy my next book if you want to know what happens."

I'm hitting the delete button on the kindle, thankful that this one cost me nothing. 2 stars out of 5

The last book l have just finished reading is No Dark Clouds by R. W. Nelson is a historical fiction story about the life and times of Jesus Christ. It is a story told in the eyes of common people. The author uses characters who have different forms of deformities. What l liked most about the novel is his writing style. The can be dramatised. You could actually have a visual expression as you read along. Gave it 4/4 rating.

The last book I read was Cry, the Beloved Country by Alan Paton. A historical fiction about the people of color in South Africa. Narrated in the eyes of our protagonist, Stephen Kumalo. A great book and story. 3/4

The last book I read was Solaris Seethes by Janet McNulty. It was a good book for the intended audience but maybe not for anyone above the age of 14. However still entertaining despite the lazy character development and introductions

I finished 'Life in a Box' by JoDee Neathery just a few days ago. I gave it 3 out of 4 stars here at Online Book Club and 4 out 5 stars at Amazon. I really enjoyed the book apart from some editorial hiccups and too much descriptions at a few places.

I have seen The Way of a Man With a Maid by Anonymous described as either Victorian or Edwardian erotica.

Some might call it pornography - perhaps it is, although, despite its frequent use of crude language and its explicit depiction of sexual activities, it is quite well written. Anonymous was clearly educated, and could write a coherent and well-constructed narrative.

Personally, I didn't find the story particularly erotic. Like much literature of this ilk, it becomes repetitious. The sexual action in this tale is mostly coercive, vengeful and undertaken without permission, at least initially.

This is fantasy erotica, but there is no way I condone the actions depicted as being acceptable or realistic. 3 stars out of 5

The last book have just finished reading is Desert Sanctuary by Fred G. Baker is a fiction story about detective Lori Sanchez and Fr Montero. When detective Sanchez goes to investigate what happened to a botched attempt to arrest drug barons, she is framed for the killing of a police officer and a head of drug baron. With the help of Fr Montero and other police officer they investigate how she was framed and the culprits are a former dirty police officer and some serving officers. It is a fast paced detective thriller and l have it a perfect 4/4 because of the twists and turns of the plots involved.
