I crack the spine on principle. Paperbacks are designed to disintegrate, besides which it's usually the only way I can tell how many of the books on my shelves I have read.

Never. One time a friend was looking at a book of mine and cracked the spine right in front of me. I could feel my stomach drop straight down to my toes. If it happens through general wear and tear, that's one thing, but intentionally cracking the spine? Absolutely not!

I don't like books with cracked spines, nor do I do that to my own books. It is weird, seeing a book that becomes flimsy overtime from constant spine cracking. I personally like my books crisp as brand new as possible. I prefer if it gets its wear as years go by.

I used to never crack the spines (heaven forbid my precious books get ruined!), but there are some books that with writing too small or are an awkward size so I do find myself crackin' a little bit.

I never crack the spines, I try to keep my books as 'new' as possible and I really hate it when a neatly kept book turns yellow.

Ebooks solved my problems...I can have the cover I like best, eat and drink while I'm reading.. :D (waiting for an ereader that smells like a new paper book..)
Bloopers in my spelling or grammar?? A PM will be greatly appreciated... I do (almost) anything to improve my English!

I don't. I think if you 'crack the spine' the book doesn't last as long.

You're definitely not the only one. I'm super careful when I read my books because I hate damaging them in the slightest way.

I am usually very careful with my books. I would never just crack the spine constantly.

No, I just memorize the page number on which I left off and close the book. I don't really like hurting books.

It frustrates me to no end when the spine creases. I recently read "a memory of light" without a single page or spine crease (anyone who know the wheel of time series knows what a feat this is). Loaned it to a friend, got it back riddled with creases and with curled corners. Died inside.

I'm the same way. I'm hesitant to loan books to anyone because I'm terrified they will do this to them! A friend of mine loaned a book to a friend of hers, and she returned it saying, "oh, my silly dog tried to read your book. Sorry she chewed the cover off, but the pages are all still there!" I was mortified FOR her.
