Nope. I must read the summary to get a gist of what the book is about.

I usually want to know what the book is about before reading it because I don't want to waste my time reading a book with a story I don't like. If the book is recommended to me by my book buddy or trusted friend, then I can read it without reading the summary first. :)
Stay safe! Sending hugs

I used to read summaries before.
But for some time now, I never read a summary. And when I do, it's usually after I finish a book.

Everytime I pick a book that I want to read, I always check the summary of it first. All of the books in the past that I've read, I have checked the summary first if I like it before diving in. Even if the cover or the title of the book is interesting, I do not pick it up if I don't like the summary.

I rarely do that because they are my go-to for choosing a book ( I try to ignore the fancy covers you see a lot nowadays). If its the continuing book in a series I'm less likely to read it and also if I'm particularly paranoid about spoilers. A bad summary can ultimately spoil a book or ruin the tone, so I use them cautiously. As with most things, it all depends.

When the summary is available, I read and when it's not, I don't get bothered. I simply read the book with an open mind.

Either method does not detract from the nature of the book.

For the most part, I try to read summaries and sometimes the reviews of book before I read them. But, sometimes I’ll start reading the book before I read the summary. Typically when u do that, the book has either been recommended to me or I’ve heard good things about it.

I always rwad the summery before reading the book, just to understand the context of the book and what to expect. This helps me to concentrate on the book.

Sometimes I don't read the summary first but my gauge is usually the first chapter. If its not appealing I don't read it. The main reason I do that sometimes is that some summaries can be intriguing but then when you read the book, its not at all what you hoped for. That is a thing that has happened to me recently.

I almost also read the summaries before reading the sample to any book I read. I like to read the summary to get a feel of what to expect when I read the book. The cover usually is the second thing I look at because if I am intrigued by the cover then the read better be just as intriguing. Depending on how the author writes, then most times I try to read from different authors and never the same one twice, unless it’s part of a series.

Trying to think about the last time I didn't read a book summary, but I think I have always read them, even if it was a recommendation. c:

You spoke my mind there :tiphat:
