Making children read books by forcing them is next to impossible. But when parents are book worms, there is a possibility it will rub off on the children. So in the future, when I have kids, I hope they get that habit from me.

Definitely. I may not force them per se but I'd highly advise they did.

Forcing people to do anything is likely to make them hate it. If you want your kids to like reading, model it in your home by reading to and around them. Eventually, they might pick up a book on their own.

I wish my parents had insisted I read a bit more when I was young, because i lost a lot of time not reading. Not saying it's their fault, at least my mom would buy me books, but not seeing her read didn't really inspire me much. i don't know yet if I want children, but i would definitely read to them.

I could not express it better than that myself... :)
Definitely have books available and prominent in the house.

It will be their choice. But I'll try to introduce the magic of reading into their lives at a young age. My parents were never into reading but then I am obsessed. So I believe that at the end of the day it is a personal preference.

Of course, I will make them read. But if they are not interested, then I won't force them to read.

I have read to my daughter since before she was born, and she loves to read. If she didn't, that would be fine, but I think she likes it because it is part of how she was raised, and either my husband or I are always reading - and of course she wants to be just like us!

When I have kids, I'll read them tons and tons of bedtime stories ranging in all genres. when they grow older, I won't force them to read because I want them to come to reading themselves. I will surely incentive reading for them. I would love if they read the books I cherish like The midnight Library, SJM books, HP series.

Sure, they'll read because it'll help them. Reading helps one to become the reservoir of knowledge.

Right now reading is one of my two year old’s favorite things to do. I hope to continue to build a good relationship with reading so when she’s older and reading on her own she still enjoys to do so.
