I have loved reading for a while. Realized it was a hobby a few years ago probably when people were discussing their favorite past time.

Ever since i was a child. English is my 3rd language but reading as a child helped me improve my English so much to the point where i'm a native speaker now (there were obviously other factors involved but reading was a big one). I always found it to be a fun activity and still do (we have 2 big bookshelves at home). I gradually shifted from reading fictional story books to reading self-help and non-fiction books which benefit me a lot.

I cannot remember, but I've been reading for a really long time. My dad always made sure I had a book in my hand. :techie-studyinggray:

when I was a child I used to make my parents read books for me because they were just so interesting. Then I stopped reading for a long time, but then I bought a book called: "80 000 meters underwater" and that made me love books again.

As soon as I was able to read a Junie B. Jones book by myself I was hooked. I would gravitate towards series the most because I liked being able to stay with the same characters for as long as possible but now I'll read pretty much anything I can get my hands on.

I get reminded every so often. I tend to collect hobbies, but reading keeps feeding something deep within myself that says: yes, this can nurture me for a very long time. From the discovery of whole other worlds and fantasies from The Last Unicorn and Lord of the Rings, to having deep emotional reactions from the fall of Gandalf to the frustration of Jeckyll and Hyde, and the pride I had in myself after finishing The Agony and the Ecstasy after 3 years of putting it down and picking it back up, getting lost in the magic of a well constructed and imaginative sentence from Alice Hoffman or Neil Gaiman or the same Agony and the Ecstasy. I keep looking to be creative and successfully paid to make art in various ways, but writing and books keeps banging at my door like it's the obvious answer and the core of who I am.

I don’t remember the exact age, but it was somewhere in middle school when I would read all the stories from my literature book before school even started, and then hop to my sister’s literature books for more stories.

Probably when I was 12. That was around the time I was allowed to read the books I chose. Before that I needed the permission of my parents. I think it was because I should read books that are appropriate for my age. However, as soon as that ended I tried reading different genres and really started to enjoy it.

When I was very young I guess. I had a habit of forgetting the world around me whenever I got engrossed into a book. Let's just say I'm not much better now. :roll2:

I was around seven or eight years old. I decided to steal my oldest sister's addition of Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone. After that I've been reading anything I could get my hands on.

Since I could pick up a book. I was always very much the "weird" kid (and to be honest, I grew up to be a much more strange adult :lol2:) and was very shy. Therefore, I had a lot of difficulty in making friends. Reading took me to different places and showed me different people. It was my way of exploring, interacting, and learning. I'm much more social now, but there's still nothing quite like getting lost in the ideas of a good book.

That should be two years ago when I decided to take reading seriously.
