I used to keep every book then it got totally impractical and had to start just keeping favourite authors. Then we had kids and I had to ditch even more of them, then the elder one started reading like a maniac and I had to clear out another whole shelf so she could put her Harry Potter, Judy Moody and David Walliams books on it. It was lovely though as she was so excited to have a shelf in the big book case so it was worth it.

I don't really collect books, but I do prefer to keep them if I buy them. I've heard of some people who pass the book along after they have read it. That sounds so noble. I think I want to be them when I grow up, but I hold mine close. Even if I loan a book, I tend to check on it like a child visiting family, "Just calling to see if you're ready for 'Johnny' to come home?" Once I gave away my copies of The Heritage of Lancaster County series... bad parent!

I don't collect books...I hoard them. It's a bit of a problem. I mostly have one copy of each, but some that have unique covers I have bought again. I also am bothered if I have a series that has both paperback and hardcover books, and will usually feel compelled to buy other copies until they all match. I like to re-read my favorites, so I have one bookcase devoted to those that are continual favorites, and then several shelves of another bookcase are those books that I will read one day, hopefully.

I collect books in the sense that I like to fill my shelves with them, but I wouldn't go as far to by multiple versions of them as the content is still the same.

I collect books. I have some books that I haven't read yet but I always want more. I just love looking at how pretty they are and knowing they are there. I believe I will never have enough books. I do love reading. It's something I totally love, but I also love collecting them.

I like to believe I do. I have a lot of books scattered all over my place since last year and I haven't finished reading them all yet. It's just that whenever I go to a bookstore, I suddenly have the compulsive to buy just about every book that I find interesting or book titles that I find catchy.

I love books and hate getting rid of them, in fact I am not sure I have willingly given a book away that I have bought. If I won the lottery , I would pay off student loans, then go on a huge book shopping spree!! (including a new book shelf  )

I do in a certain way. I prefer to buy a book instead of getting it from the library. If i like a book from my kindle, i will buy the actual book so i can display in my bookcase. So i collect books I have read so i can display my accomplishments.

I certainly do! I have a collection of books on antiques and interior design. A collection of cookery and poetry books. I also have a large collection of the classics many of which belonged to my Grandfather, and my latest collection is vintage penguin books - first editions if I can find them.
