I haven't yet read even a small portion of the Harry Potter series. Believe me, I want to, and I do BECAUSE I love the movies! If there are more I think of later, I'll post them here! Oh, oh! I really liked Treasure Island!

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Atonement by Ian McEwan
Thank you for Smoking by Christopher Buckley
Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
Never Let Me Go (Kazuo Ishiguro)
However, I think the following movies lived up to the books:
To Kill a Mockingbird (Harper Lee)
In Cold Blood (Truman Capote)
The Princess Bride (William Goldman)
The Lovely Bones (Alice Sebold)
Bridget Jones's Diary (Helen Fielding)

I am often disappointed by movies that are made from books. I was really disappointed in the Angels and Demons movie as Dan Brown's book was so great.
I was most impressed with The Lord of the Rings movies as I felt they were true to the books.
