I’d say that generally I don’t have a preference on gender, but sometimes it really depends on the genre of the book I’m reading. I tend to favor female authors when I want to read a good romance but I’d say most of my favorite suspense authors are male. That’s not counting Mary Higgins Clark or Iris Johanson, but just generally. When I’m choosing my next book, however, I don’t normally think too much about the author’s gender.

Female writers. Because they have interesting perspectives, and the world already has too many male writers.

I mostly read crime , thriller and mystery fiction and non fiction, I am not aware of any female writers yet in this genre.
