Re: How fast do you read

I'm a speed reader, and has been so since childhood, so I read pretty fast.
When I read fiction I read somewhere in between 1300 and 1500 words a minute. I don't know how that translates to pages though. When I read non-fiction, or read university coursework, then I read noticeable slower but still with a rather good speed.

I'm not sure my exact speed, but I can usually finish about two books in three days.. If that counts as anything. :P

I tend to skim pages and read books very quickly, especially if it is a book I am really into. I find then that I once I finish it I can go back and read it at a much slower pace and really enjoy it again.

I've never timed myself but my husband tells me that I read really fast. If it's a good book I'll usually finish reading it in a day or day and a half. My husband will come home from work and ask me how many books I've read today haha!

If i can get into a book, super quick 30mins to an hour. Others can take weeks to read before i finally give up.

I agree that your speed depends on the book, the writing style and how much you are enjoying it. Generally speaking though I am a fast reader and read 60pages an hour on average.

I'm not sure, I have dyslexia so I tend to take longer to read a page in a book but I can get through a typical 500 page book in around two sittings, so about 8ish hours I think :)

I usually spend about a minute per page. But this speeds up and slows down based on how rapidly the story is moving or if it's fiction or non-fiction. I tend to spend more time with a good fiction book because I want to stay in the story longer.

It depends. If I'm reading a novel just for pure fun, then a 300-400 page book normally only takes me a couple of hours. If I'm really enjoying it, I'll deliberately slow down to make it last longer. When I'm reading nonfiction, I'm doing so to learn something and am paying *much* closer attention to detail, so it will take several more hours.

I used to go through books in a couple days, regardless of length. Now, however, that I'm older, it takes me longer, as I try to understand intently what the author is trying to communicate.
