I love getting suggestions. I've discovered a lot of great books and authors from friends and even strangers!

No, I haven't. I'm assuming I should put that on my list with the Narnia series, right? :)

I do like getting suggestions, but I'm also not afraid to say no. I know what books/genres I like and what I don't. I'm also suckered into popular series. Everyone is reading it?!?! I will too!!! It doesn't always pan out. But you learn and move on.

I like getting suggestions, but I hate people who insist I read a book. I mean, thank you for the advice, but can I please decide what I want to read?

I hate getting personal suggestions. I realized that if a friend suggests a book to me I take a very long time to read it, and then I feel forced to enjoy the book because they enjoyed it. I like to read reviews on novels before reading a book because many people tell it like it is, not too over embellished.

I like it, but when they come from my friends, I am wary. I have had too many bad experience of people with way different tastes recommending books to me. I think I am more likely to take advice from people in this forum that from people I know in my everyday life.

I like getting suggestions so much I will go out looking for suggestions. I read through the forums here, on Goodreads, etc - all looking for suggestions. Sometimes I find gems. Sometimes I get books that make me gag, and I wonder how ANYONE could possibly enjoy them. But I still love getting (and following through!) on the suggestions.

Sometimes I think I like going off suggestions more than I like hunting for books on my own.

I usually thank the people and then ignore their advice. At times their advice is insulting and then I often return the insult.

Yep. As long as they know what kind of books I like.
