Chocolate by Joanne Harris
Fried Green Tomatoes by Fannie Flagg

There have been others but these are my favourites. I have to say that Harris' books always leave us with our senses heightened, so although I've only put one down, I also really enjoyed BlackBerry Wine which talks a lot about fruit and vegetables too.

The book is not exactly a novel, but I love Picni]c in Provence by Elizabeth Bard. The memoir details her simple yet poetic life in Provence with her French husband. It has many moments of familial affection and gives a lot of delightful recipes as well.
It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.

I really like the series by Diane Mott Davidson, that feature her as a caterer. She includes a section with her recipes that are mentioned in each book. In addition to the mystery, I love the way she incorporates the food- especially the desserts!
