I use a brand of protein called Necture. If you have a hard time with the genetic vanilla or chocolate flavours this might be a good option for you. It has lemonade, fuzzy peach, strawberry kiwi etc so I can drink them with just water which is convenient. I also eat a pretty well balance diet but I am a dance teacher and I frequent the gym so I have a very active day to day life. Adding in a protein shake just makes it easier to make sure I am fully fuelled.

I am not one to generally drink them as I believe in eating healthy enough to cover my bases, but I am highly active and work a strenuous job where I don’t get to eat as often as I’d like. There’s a lot of info out there on powders and so forth, but I know there’s many better than others especially since it isn’t generally regulated. What are your favorites and why?
If I want a protein shake I tend to go with the Premier Protein. I lean towards protein bars though, they fill me more. Built bars are amazing.

For protein, i usually rely on adult formula milk found on every supermarket or convenience store no matter the brand name. Also, i make sure to make fruit shakes.

My absolute favorite is the Vega sport protein powder, chocolate flavor. It has 30g of protein in one serving, is delicious to me, and it has no milk proteins, since I'm lactose intolerant.

Not a big fan of protein drinks, but I love to add nut butter to smoothies or oatmeal for some added protein.

I pour the smoothie into glass jars and stick them a the refrigerator, then I can shake one up and drink it for a quick lunch. They last a couple days in the fridge, they just are not as thick after they thaw. You can also make them the night before.

Example for 3 8-oz mason jars of smoothie:

Chocolate Cherry or Berry:

1/2 frozen banana
1 c frozen cherries or berries
1-2 Tbs raw cacao powder
maple syrup to taste, depending on how sweet the banana was
milk or almond milk to the 20 oz line
1/3 block tofu or large scoop of plain greek yogurt
(sometimes i stuff the rest of the blender full of spinach and add extra almond milk)
Oooo. This recipe looks tasty. Will definitely try it out when I get my blender to work again.

I have heard about Necture. I have never tried it though. Now I want to.

Someone told me that protein powders are bad for you and I eventually never ended up trying one. I’ve been meaning to do so though coz I'd like to increase my protein intake.

I drink vanilla flavored orgain plant-based protein. It's vegan. But, I am not vegan. Honestly, I don't like to drink protein shakes. But, since most of my diet is vegetarian, I find it hard to get enough protein without bloating myself up, and therefore resort to protein shakes. To be honest, I'm trying to quit them for a while.

I prefer to make smoothies with Greek yogurt and various fruits and veggies. I'm not a fan of protein powder, I've never liked a single one.

In the eighties, I was into bodybuilding. I would do like Rocky Balboa and break a couple of eggs in a glass, stir them up, and down the hatch! Pretty gross eh! Anyway, I never got sick. My muscles got big with hard training. I later refined this drink into an egg nog drink with beaten eggs, milk, vanilla and a touch of nutmeg and sweetener. Less gross! Then I switched to whey protein powder drinks. Now, I will drink a vanilla plant based protein. No more raw eggs for me!

I am new to smoothies. I read a few recipe books and I know how to make them and what parts you need. I like the vanilla protein, almond milk, and 1 frozen banana, then I add a handful of other frozen fruit: strawberries, peaches, mixed berries, or cherries. I tried pineapple, but that is not for me. I also have frozen avocado chunks that is a nice smooth texture. I add chia seeds, or flax seeds, or oatmeal. Also, I might add 2-3 prunes or a few cashews. I have an Oster blender and I just start on the lowest speed then I finish on the highest speed with boosts. I taste it with a spoon to make sure it is smooth. I always keep my hand on the top of the blender when it is running. Ask me why. haha.

I have read about the Ninja ice cream machine. The recipes are like smoothies that I am familiar with. The machine is quite pricy. Do you think it is worth the money to make these ice cream treats? What is the clean up like?
