Can we talk about the Instant Pot?

I got one for Christmas last year (yes, I'm at that point in my life where I LOVE getting kitchen gadgets for Christmas) and I can't remember what life was like without it! It cooks rice and beans perfectly, slow cooks stews and soups, makes veg stock, and steams vegetables.

Do you have one? What do you use it for? What is your favorite blog/cookbook? Do you have any epic Instant Pot fails?

So far, I've been pretty scared to use an Instant Pot, if I'm being completely honest! I own a standard old pressure cooker that I only use when I want to make artichokes. I've had two friends have an Instant Pot explode on them and give them 2nd degree burns, even though they claim they released the pressure properly. I really want to be more confident in using an Instant Pot because I've seen so many great recipes for them! I reviewed a book on NetGalley called Keto in an Instant that was purely keto recipes for the Instant Pot (obviously I did not realize it was for the Instant Pot when I requested it, but even without that gadget, the recipes were still good). It seems as though if your extremely careful, everything should be fine...but I'm still apprehensive...maybe I'm just a scaredy cat!

I love mine! I’m still an amateur with it though. I’ve made spaghetti squash, batch cooked oatmeal, and starbucks copycat egg bites. No particular blogs or cookbooks yet. Do you have any to recommend?

Is instant pot the same as a pressure cooker? Never used one.

I don't know about instant pot but I love the pressure cookers. In most of the Asian homes, it is a common thing. Its energy-efficient and time saver. I understand it intimidates but if safety measures are taken properly everything should be fine.

I'm a stickler for slow cookers. I haven't invested in an insta pot yet.

I am an insta-pot refuser! I don't know what it is about them, I can't get my head around... I have no desire. Plus, I'm pretty sure all (or most) insta-pot users are automatically initiated into an insta-pot cult with some weird insta-pot bond between them.

NOW... an Air fryer I could get behind. Haven't. Could. Maybe someday. Never an insta-pot.

Disclaimer: this post is meant to be opinionated humor, not offensive. Do not send the cult after me. Thanks! :tiphat:

I also got my cooker for Christmas and can totally relate to loving kitchen gadget gifts! I got a Ninja Pressure Cooker/Air Fryer which isn't an Instant Pot, but works exactly like one. I can't believe how quickly it can cook meat without drying it out. I am still amazed every time I use it!

I also got an Indian food recipe book to go with it and I LOVE IT. So far I have made butter chicken, chickpea curry, and spicy masala potatoes. I am building up my Indian pantry and am so excited to keep making new recipes!

I got the Ninja Foodi last year for Christmas and I will never go back! I love both the instant pot and air fryer, it has changed everything. I already told my husband when I run this one into the ground from using it so much I will want another. I was hesitant to jump on the instant pot train but I'm glad I did, it is awesome.

My parents own a pressure cooker, and it's amazingly convenient for slow-cooking certain meals! Typically, they cook bone broths and beef tendon soups in there. Eventually, I should buy my own.

I love my instant pot snd use it a lot. There is a bacon ranch pasta recipe with spinach that I really like. I also enjoy making soups in it or just cooking shredded chicken for other recipies. My biggest fail was cinnamon apples. I followed the recipe and was trying to get them ready for a picnic. When I released the pressure, cinnamon liquid shot every where. The apples would not cook, and I kept getting the "burn" message. Then I overcooked them, and it all turned to mush.

I have been hesitant in purchasing an instant pot. However, all the wonderful comments about it have convinced me to give it a try.
