Anybody here love bread baking?

Post by MissMarm »

I am currently rereading and rebaking my way through one of my favourite books: Flour Water Salt Yeast by Ken Forkish. Do you have any favourite bread books? Or any fun bread recipes you've been making?

I love homemade bread. It can be a bit of a long process, especially if you don’t have a bread maker (which I don’t), but it tastes so much better homemade and fresh. I always look up recipes online, myself, especially to read the comments and reviews which often have great tips in them. I made some baguettes recently and learned a trick to put a pan of water in the oven with the bread. Apparently the steam helps build a nice crust on the baguettes as they bake.

I have never baked a bread in my life. I usually buy them from the bakery.

I LOVE to bake bread! I have a bread machine that I use for the dough just to make it easier. I’m planning to make pizza dough today.

I have been helping my mom to bake a lot! We have made bread from scratch, pizza from scratch (including the cheese), quesadillas and some pies It's a fun but tiring process.

When I tried to make bread using recipes I found online, I had equal success and failure. Despite this, I won't give up and will continue to train.

One of the first recipes I cooked was a homemade bread recipe. I was 15 years old then and could not differentiate between pound and pinch. The dough grew at least 10x its size and completely covered our oven. Despite that error, we still made the bread, followed the recipe, and it came out fantastic. Now it is one of my favorite foods to bake, and this story is one of my favorites.

I have once in my lifetime tried to bake bread. Even tho my family used to bake a lot earlier, the one I made had rosemary. It is not the spice our taste buds are used to so we didn't like it and I haven't tried since then.

I discovered bread making during the pandemic and I found it super relaxing. I always wanted to make bread but it seemed super complicated.

The first recipe I started with was this recipe: https://youtu.be/BGT-ond7kb0?si=OWMHayal3uj2wdYo

Which is a family recipe, I just found this lady following it. It can be modified into herb rolls or other kinds of rolls. However I love to make them as the recipe states and eat them with Apple butter.

I found a many bread recipes in cook books my mom has acquired over the years. Even though I enjoy making bread, it isn’t something I do often. I look forward it reading others bread making experiences.

I love making banana and blueberry bread, even though they are more like treats than traditional bread.

I want to try making more dinner breads like French bread, but I don’t feel very confident in myself so haven’t attempted.
