In the United States, our staple is corn. Everywhere, all over the country, Corn is grown as the major crop. When you cross the country on the highway or on a train, you'll often see thousands of acres of corn in almost every state across the country. It's common.

Popular in South Africa is krummelpap (a sort of crumbling porridge made from maize flour), vetkoek (a filled or unfilled little bread fried in oil) and the ordinary loaf of bread. Which one is the staple would depend on which of the many diverse cultures in South Africa one belongs to.

I'm actually not exactly sure as we have so many cultures in South Africa. Braais (barbeques) are quite a staple. There are many traditional dishes like milktart, mealie meal, samoosas, biltong(jerky) Bobotie(curried mince), vetkoek(fried bread) koeksisters(sweet and syrupy twisted dough) and probably many others.

I am from India and here every region have their own staple. But in broader sense, wheat and rice are main staples. Wheat in north and rice in South India

I’m from Nigeria and we have a variety of wonderful soups. There’s Egusi soup, okra soup, vegetable soups ( various types), pepper soup,etc

In the Philippines, we can go through the day without eating rice. Rice is our main source of energy, and we eat it three times a day. We've grown accustomed to it, which is why we purchase sacks of rice on a regular basis.

My mother is originally from Ghana. The staple food is most likely Jollof which is a form of rice.

I live in South Africa too! This sounds about right! I think in terms of a staple food that is cheap and consumed a lot I think Mielie meal or pap as we call it could be the one.
