I thought it would be hard to cook the Thanksgiving turkey. Someone else was always in charge of that. I always bring the stuffing. But during the pandemic, I found out that it is quite simple to cook a turkey!

Macaroons. I always heard they were hard to make. I've made them perhaps 3 times, failed all. 4th time is the charm, right?

Anything indian is hard to make in my opinion but it just tastes so good. Chapatis and naan are my favourite to make, I found it hard at first because I could make perfect circles, but I'm better now.

Caramel Popcorn! It is just 2 steps. It is tedious as you have to keep checking and stirring it, but it is not hard to do!

Pounded yam! Any Nigerian will understand the whole hype around pounding yam, especially as a “traditional African woman.” Imagine my surprise finding out that it isn't at all difficult.

Chocolate lava cakes! I haven't perfected the "lava" part of the cake, but the recipe is super simple, I just need to take it out a minute or two sooner.

I thought baking a cake was super hard considering it required an oven which by the way is not a common item in our African homes. However, I was able to make a sponge cake using a saucepan and a charcoal stove. I was not as hard as i had anticipated.

Homemade steamed bao... I thought they'd be hard to make, but they are so easy! Most of the time it takes to make them is spent waiting for the dough to rise.

Eggplant parm, I had a panic attack the first time making it. You have to be quick with the eggplants when frying them. There was so much going on, it was a nightmare. The next time I made it was a lot easier, I wasn’t in a crowded kitchen so the extra noise was gone.
