I don't do much cooking, but my mother and my husband love it. My mom in particular loves cookbooks and tends to collect them. She likes to read the stories that sometimes come attached to the recipes, but I'm pretty sure that my husband will never use one. The internet is just easier and usually more direct.

Pictures! If the dishes look tasty and attractive then I easily pick those books up. I like bright pictures of food which looks tempting.

I think the only thing that would make me pick up a cook book this present age is if there's a special recipe that is not available online.

I love physical books but I wouldn't buy recipe books simple because free recipes are available on internet.

I always appreciate a cookbook with a photo of every single recipe. Then I know what to hopefully expect! I like your idea of adding personal stories to the book as well! Maybe not a memoir but perhaps a short paragraph describing where the recipe came from or a funny experience related to it.

I check if it has the recipes I need. I also go for those that the prices are fair.

I prefer observing someone rather than reading a cook book. Put with proper motivation I can read one

I will pick up a cook book if I see it referenced as a good cook book and find recipes I will like to try out.

It seems to me that just offering recipes isn't enough, so what else could someone add to a "cookbook" that would make it worth your time?

I know there are quite a few authors who've included different recipes that are related in some way to their book, but what is the reverse of this?

I suppose making it into a pseudo memoir could work. Goodness knows I'd probably give it a second look
You're so funny. But reading cookbooks and not really my thing because I find out a bit boring. At the Rogers watch and Deadpool every scene to practice.

Personally, the things that most attract me to cookbooks are unique takes on recipes, as well as entirely new recipes that look relatively easy to try and have promise.

It's also the presentation of the cookbook that pulls me in, such as the photos of the end result, if those look good then I am more likely than not to grab a cookbook and buy it.

I lean toward cookbooks if there is something specific I want or when I'm trying to use a specific ingredient. I also have some dietary issues, so I look at a cookbook as a tried a true way to access recipes that will be safe for me without having to experiment with pricey ingredients on my own.

I think a good way to draw people to cookbooks is making the recipes approachable. For example, 30 minute meals, one pot meals, 10 ingredients or less, etc. Then you always know it'll be a simple recipe that will still be tasty!

The collapse of the internet. I don't see the point of cookbooks given that there are numerous recipes you can find online, along with in depth videos on how to make virtually any dish you can imagine. It also allows much easier comparison between recipes than a cookbook ever will.

It is sometimes nice to pick up a cookbook verses following a recipe online. Sometimes it's just nice to things the old fashioned way.
