Adult coloring books

Are you into adult coloring books? I see so many coloring books that I like, but I find it hard to justify buying them when I don't have as much time to color as I'd like to. If $ were plentiful, I'd probably have a whole bookshelf for them alone. LOL! Also, I tend to be a slow colorist. Do you like to collect coloring books - buy every coloring book that you see that you like even if you haven't finished coloring all or many of the pages of the books you already have? Do you tend to buy every book that all your favorite artists create? Or do you tend to only buy a few books and color as much as you want in those before looking for a new coloring book?

I love coloring by number. I have three coloring books that I alternate when I want to color. If I see a coloring book in the store that is unique then I buy it. By unique I mean different designs other than flowers, animals, or wildlife.
Coloring by numbers is very therapeutic and relaxing. I have jazz music playing as I color.

Thanks for your reply! I have never tried the color by number books, probably because I like to choose my own colors, but maybe someday I will try them. There are so many coloring books that look like a repeat of those that have come before, so I applaud you for choosing only the unique ones! I agree that coloring is therapeutic and relaxing. I love music but I don't think I have thought before to listen as I color. I feel relaxed just thinking about the two activities combined. What a wonderful idea that I will definitely try!

I LOVE colouring books. They remind me of being a kid and playing with all the colours and designs, really makes me so happy. I have about 2-3 colouring books that I use. They are all different genres, so I can colour in whichever one matches my mood that day. I definitely know though, that if I was let loose, I would buy every colouring book I came across

It sounds like you're really drawn to adult coloring books, and I totally get it! The designs are so captivating that it's tempting to build an entire collection. I’ve come across a lot of people who share your love for coloring but face the same dilemma—finding time to actually sit down and color.
Personally, I think adult coloring books are like little treasures, each one offering its own unique artistic journey. And yes, it’s easy to get carried away with wanting to buy more, even if I haven’t finished the ones I already have. I try to balance it by buying books that really resonate with me, even if it means not buying every single one that catches my eye.
When it comes to my favorite artists, I do have a few that I tend to follow closely, but I don’t buy every single release. I prefer to focus on quality over quantity and pick books that I feel I’ll really enjoy coloring—even if it means they sit on the shelf for a bit until I have time to dive in.
I think it’s all about finding joy in the process, whether you color slowly or don’t finish every page. And if you do end up with a bookshelf full of coloring books, there’s no shame in that—collecting them can be just as fun as coloring them!

I totally get where you're coming from! I do enjoy adult coloring books, but like you, I don’t always have the time to color as much as I’d like. It can definitely be tempting to buy every beautiful book I see, especially when I find one from a favorite artist. But I try to pace myself and only pick up a few at a time so I can actually enjoy coloring them rather than just collecting them. It’s hard to resist, though! If money and time were no issue, I’d probably have an entire bookshelf dedicated to coloring books too—LOL!

Hmmm! I don't own any coloring books but I enjoy coloring for fun. I find it very calming and it's a good stress reliever. But I do like sketching faces or eyes so I color or outline that. It's always 'a feel good' session when you can match skin tones and colors.

I have a few coloring books and sketching books. I love to color to destress and it leaves me feeing satisfied at the end of the activity. I have collected a few over the years and dip into them when I have some time.

While I don’t have any adult coloring books I think they sound relaxing and fun. I’ve always wanted to try one. I bet it sometimes helps with anxiety and depression as well. Art is always my go to.
