I need a cookbook for "single & kitchen challenged".

I am single, trying to lose weight and I can't cook well. I don't have the time or inclination. I'll buy a cookbook and I'm lucky to be able to use 1 or 2 recipes. I don't have fresh herbs ... McCormick and Mrs. Dash are my best friends, I thought I was getting on the cutting edge when I bought garlic sea salt. Don't talk shallots and leeks. The best I can do is "onion". I don't own a double boiler, iron skillet or smoker. Can anyone steer me to a good healthy cookbook for someone who is kitchen challenged?

I would recommend The America's Test Kitchen QUICK Family Cookbook. It has sections in the front and back on what ingredients to buy and the basic necessities for cooking. It makes serving sizes of about 4 and everything can be made in less than 45 minutes, some in under 20. Every recipe I have made from it has been tasty, and most have been pretty fantastic.

Check out the Whole30 cookbook by Dallas and Melissa Hartwig. Even if you aren't interested I. Cooking paleo, they approach recipes and cooking with the assumption that you don't know how to cook. Very helpful for a first timer looking to cook healthy.

I have been getting all my recipes from Pinterest lately. I definitely recommend Pinterest. The best part is when you find something you like, you can read reviews and see if it turned out for other people first.

I recommend Cooking Light Real Family Food by Amanda Haas. Its written for a busy family but the meals are easy to make. The meals are healthy, and you can do meal prep with them. That way you have premade meals during the week.

When I was single I found myself baking a lot because I had so much time to do so. I recommend "How To Cake It" by Yolanda Gampp! Her recipes are range from simple to advanced and are extremely fun to try!

Delia Smith Cooking For One. She’s a UK cook so no measuring in cups.
