How to use Spinach?

Post by Jen Cowhig »

Hey y’all,
I was gifted a few bags of spinach and need to use it before it goes bad. I typically make spinach quiche with it and was wondering what else to use it for as there is only so much quiche the family and I want to eat! Does anyone else have ideas… I was thinking of maybe doing Spinach lasagne. The most basic, beginner-friendly, few ingredients the better! While I could use some of it in a smoothie, I don't love the taste of it in liquids.

Do you even like spinach? Its not my favorite do give some of it to my pet rabbits as a treat but I can't give them too much or they will get sick.

I use spinach to make parathas, it is an Indian recipe where I blanch and blend spinach then add it to flour and make a dough, I then cook it like a roti and have it with some curd and aachar. Super easy and yummy!

hi there, I would make a spinach Salad, and toss it with some olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. You can add nuts, berries, and cheese for more flavor. oooh, and avocado!

I just saw a really cool recipe for making spinach pasta. It was made mostly from spinach and a little bit of flour. I'm sorry I forgot the other ingredients but I'm sure you can find it waith a good google search.

Hey there, spinach is a really healthy vegetable, you can practically blanche it and use it pasta. Plus when you blanche it, the size decreases a lot so you can eat loads of spinach without even noticing it if you add it in pasta or some sort of noodles.

Spinach can be used in many ways add it to salads, blend it into smoothies, sauté it as a side dish, or incorporate it into soups, stews, and casseroles. It’s adaptable and adds a nutrient boost to various meals!

I have never liked spinach. My parents cooked it and said Popeye at it, so I ate it only to get big and strong! LOL. I have been making smoothies and I tried a recipe with spinach, and I swear I had a stomachache for a day! I buy kale and spinach for my parakeets and so that is what I use it for now.

You can do a spinach artichoke dip or you could do an Italian wedding soup. I make a cheat version of Italian wedding soup that takes under 10 minutes. I use vegetable broth or some vegetable consommé powder with water heat it up, add a cup of Pastina, wait till the Pastina cooks almost all the way through, then add a few vegan meatballs that have been toasted already into your soup and go ahead and add spinach. When everything is heated, turn off heat and serve at a little bit of lemon. It’s amazing super healthy and super delicious.

I believe it is good when used in egg omelettes. You can just throw some into the eggs in the morning and viola, a spinach omelette.

I like throwing spinach into different pastas. It cooks down and is an easy way to add in more greens! I know you mentioned not loving it in liquids like smoothies...but maybe pasta sauce gets a pass? Just a thought :)

Yum! I stuff chicken breasts with spinach and cream cheese. It’s one of my favorite meals that I prepare when I give my husband a break from cooking. :)

I have recently learned that I don't mind eating cooked or frozen spinach. I'm still working on fresh though. I've never liked eating leafy greens or greens in general. The only fresh spinach I've eaten has been in my typical Subway sandwich: Italian herb & cheese bread, colby jack cheese, turkey, ham, mayo, and then toasted. I ate about half of it and had to take the rest off.

I have used frozen/cooked spinach in scrambled eggs, copy cat Olive Garden chicken gnocchi soup, chicken & rice, and a basic spaghetti recipe but with garden rotini pasta (normal, tomato, and spinach noodles).
