Love gardening?

Post by Sandra Smith 18 »

Does anyone else love gardening? I've got a few herbs, cherry tomatoes, green onions, potatoes, green beans, cucumbers, strawberries, and squash growing in containers. Everything is organic and delicious! I also love growing flowers. Gardening has become one of my biggest passions and one of my favorite summertime activities. It's also very practical!

Hello Sandra

I'm a garder too and an aspiring florist 🌷

I have planted 5 mini lemon trees and 1 cherry tree.
And I admire any plant that attracts birds, bees and butterflies to my garden. ☺

That's wonderful to hear! Gardening is such a rewarding and practical hobby. Your variety of plants sounds amazing, and growing them organically must make them even more delicious. It's great that you've turned it into a passion and a favorite summertime activity. Do you have any tips for growing such a diverse range of plants in containers?

I LOVE gardening. Something about knowing where your vegetables come from, and how they were grown, makes them more delicious. I have lemons, limes, eggplants, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, basil, thyme and oregano. Can’t wait to expand my garden next season for more fresh veggies.

I really like knowing where my vegetables come from too! I wish all of them came from my garden. And yes, they are more delicious than most store-bought foods. I love harvesting some goodies just before using them in a meal. I look forward to having a place in the not-too-distant future where I can expand and grow much more. Hope your gardening expansion is a big success! Happy growing!

My husband and I are getting back into gardening again. Our first year, we were very successful with loads of green beans. Last year, I feel we planted way too early. This year, we are going to get a new tiller and have been doing a lot of research so we can have the best garden yet.

I love gardens, colorful and beautiful ones. When I was much younger, I used to help my mother in her garden, planting and weeding. My sister is an avid gardener with a huge backyard garden. Alas, I do not have a garden but I do sometimes help my sister with her garden and sit and enjoy the beautiful flowers and plants.

Your garden sounds delicious! I love gardening as a relaxing hobby but also to grow my own food. I've been moving around in recent years, so I haven't been able to commit to a vegetable garden, but I always have a container herb garden going. I love being able to harvest fresh herbs to season my recipes with.

Thank you for your comment, Diane! There is just something about working outside in a garden and touching nature, even though it can be hard work, that is relaxing and makes one feel good. It's also fun and satisfying to harvest and eat what you grow. I'm glad you're growing herbs in containers. You might be surprised that you can grow just about anything in a container. I can only grow in containers where I live, and I've even grown heavy feeders like squash and okra. A little bit of homegrown is better than no homegrown!

I like having a garden but not necessarily gardening. I do enjoy my little vegetable garden and seeing the results, I’m just not super patient. I plant potatoes because they are easy and I haven’t had much luck with seeds, but I’m trying to plant tomatoes and peppers this year using seeds. I’m also trying onions that have been already rooted so we will see how that goes

I love having a garden, but I hate weeding or watering in the summer heat. Last summer was so intense, I gave up halfway through. I do love my herb garden, though! My family has also gotten into hydroponic gardening indoors, so it's lovely being surrounded by the greenery inside and out. I would love some tips for growing strawberries! My plants always come out scraggly and weak.

I love gardening, but I am usually unlucky with planting tomatoes from seed. I have to cheat, and I end up buying plants at the nursery. 🤣

Definitely, I loved doing it, I don't do it now but I did a few years ago and I loved it, I had different plants of bananas, spices, corn, tomatoes, potatoes, plantains, coconut, mango, avocado in my home's yard, which was extremely large. I loved it because everything was organic and natural, it's the best and probably I would do in future again.
