Lol.
Mine too. Just past al dente, just before soggy.

Lol! Is that a literal thing?
Do people actually trow pasta against the wall to test it for doneness?

Oh wow, I've never heard of the 'throw it against the wall and see if it sticks' test.
Interesting.

Boil water and add salt to it. Cook the pasta according to the packet instructions.

Well, I cook my pasta differently in such a bizarre way.... I add pasta and sauce all together in a time, waiting patiently for the end results.

I'd take mine out of the water sooner than later; I much prefer when spaghetti is chewy than when it's mushy.

Thank you for the tips on cooking spaghetti. Spaghetti that is over or undercooked is not good. I am enjoying the new craze of vegetable "spaghetti". We are able to buy butternut, spinach and baby marrow "spaghetti". it looks just like normal spaghetti with the added bonus of it being made of vegetables.

That's a fascinating thread. I love Ultimate spaghetti carbonara. It's amazing how good and varied Italian cuisine is.

I usually throw my spaghetti in a pot with some salt, water and a little bit of oil(half a teaspoon at the most) so that it doesn’t stick together. Cook for 10mins - more or less and voila!

I agree, definitely cook pasta al dente. I usually try to buy quality ingredients as well, usually from Italy, as that makes a big difference.

I never time my pasta making, but i usually have strong sense of timing. Maybe this is a cardinal sin, but I sometimes break the pasta before putting it in the boiling water.

Spaghetti is one of the easiest and simplest foods to make and it's my go-to food. The process is very simple. Put your pasta in boiling water and wait till it boils add salt and cover. Wait till it gets soft and serve.

Mary Jane Magdale wrote: 24 May 2018, 18:31 Cooking pasta is really simple, but like a lot of simple cooking, timing is crucial. Most dried pasta cooks in about 10 mins – a few minutes less and it will be chalky and tough, a few minutes more and you’ll end up with a slimy mush. The trick is to test it and stop cooking when it’s perfectly ‘al dente’ – which translates from Italian as ‘to the tooth’ but simply means you should need to use your teeth to chew it. :D
Thanks for this. I always manage to ness up my spaghetti when cooking. I will literally set an alarm for my self when next I attempt to prepare that dish.
