I think Harry Potter. During the time the movies came out, I didn't like reading much, so I saw the movies but didn't read the books. But once I started to enjoy reading, then I wanted to start reading the books.

"The Fault In Our Stars" made me want to read the book and I wasn't disappointed by it.

Gone with the Wind and Fight Club. Two very different movies, I know. Granted, I think I would've liked both books even more if I hadn't seen the movie first, especially Fight Club. Went in with certain images of everything in my head already.

I read The Hobbit after watching the trailer for The Lord of the Rings (I would have read The Fellowship of the Ring, but my library didn't have it).

I watched the early Harry Potter movies before I read the series and I loved the books to death. I've only just read the Percy Jackson series after having seen the movies quite a while ago, and while I like the movies before, they don't even hold a light to the books.

Hunger games. That’s probably the case of a lot of people. I had no idea it existed. The dystopian world and the interesting characters really left me wanting more. The battle of Katniss and Peeta for survival was amazing.

The Martian.... I watched this movie many times before picking up the book and probably that's the reason I love the movie more than the book!

The movie series for divergent definitely made me interested in the books. So did fifty shades of grey and to this day I still think the books are better.

Just this month I watched all the Rambo movies for the first time, and I thoroughly enjoyed them. Didn't know they were based on a book till after, but I'm gonna read it next.

The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco, amazing film and performance by Sean Connery, but the book is even better!

I saw the movie Brooklyn before I even knew it was based on a book. I really like the movie and watch it every November as sort of a Thanksgiving tradition. I just read the book after this past Christmas, and I really liked it. I can't say which I like more, as I like both.

I have yet to read Practical Magic, and The Devil Wears Prada but really want to as I love both movies.

I watched the movie Coraline before I ever picked up the book, and they are vastly different. To this day I'm not sure if I enjoy the whimsy of the movie more or the dark nihilism of the book. In the end I always lean towards the movie because..well, of Wybie. lol

I saw the movie Lion before reading the book A Long Way Home and it sparked my interest. It was a great book and a great movie.
