Re: Book first or movie first?

My first novel was Twilight by Stephenie Meyer, which primarily bounds a love story between a vampire and a clumsy human. That one novel somehow paved the way for my desire to read more. It was late when someone called out the movie based on this book. I was quick to watch. But the way I viewed my characters was a lot different in the movie. It didn't match my expectations. So from then on, I usually make time for the book. I don't wish for my imaging power to be dullified or put in a box by someone else's point of view and work.

Because I read so much, I have normally already read the book before the movie comes out. I can't actually think of an instance where that is not the case.

Definitely movie first, I think it is too easy to be disappointed by an unfaithful adaptation of a book. If you liked the movie you can then be excited to read the book, rarely does it work that way in reverse.

And bought our pretty crowns, but never paid the price
Find me in the river, find me there
Find me on my knees with my soul laid bare

So when i was little i used to hate books and i only watched movies. After i grew up a little bit i discovered the magic of books and the power they hold. Yu can literally imagine the world the author has made however you want and i personally think movies take that from you because they are already made and you dont have to imagine anything. One day i decided that i am going to either read the book or watch the movie. If I read the book and then watch the movie the vision i created in my head will be ruined and the same thing happens when i watch the movie first and then read the book. Also i am going to be waisting my time doing both because i will already know the plot. I love reading more so in most cases i read the book first and not watch the movie :D .

I don't really have a preference. Either of them is fine. It just has to be interesting and enjoyable. I just like having fun regardless.

I try to read the book first, so that I know the source material. Almost every film adaptation I have seen has left some key element from the book on the cutting room floor. If I see the film first, I am sometimes not as likely to stay fully engaged with the book if I try to read it after the fact.

It depends on how the movie is. If it's a long movie or series I'll prefer to read the book first

I would personally prefer reading the book first so i can imagine in my head what’s going on. Although my least favorite part is watching a movie and seeing characters in ways i didn’t imagine them lol.
