I'll have to say that my best Book-To-Movie adaptation is Harry Potter Book one. For me watching the movie was reading the book again, now days it is a rare thing to see, the book adaptations are no longer following the book descriptions and for the readers makes you lose interest in the movie (Don't you feel the same?). In Harry Potter book one, you see everything, the book description, the scenes, everything.

I really appreciated the way they pulled off "The Help" because I loved the book! It was one that I didn't want to put down but made myself go slowly because I didn't want it to end. I tend to rush through books because I want to find out what happens, but I enjoyed Kathryn Stockett's style so much that I had to make the reading last. When the movie came out, I made a point to see it on the big screen and it was really satisfying, UNLIKE, for example "Prince Caspian" (but we'll forgive them!).

My favourite is probably the Princess Bride. Most people don't even realize there's a book. The book is good too, but it's unnecessarily long with a couple pointless scenes and the style it's written in was confusing for me. The movie is a lot more well known medium for the story, and the screenplay was written by the original author, so of course it stays true to the essence of the book. The differences are minimal, there is just a lot of information in the book that we miss out on in the movie, like how Inigo Montoya's dad was killed by the man with six fingers. But as far as I remember, there wasn't any noticeable differences between events that happened in both the movie and the book.

The closest book to film adaptation for me was Dances With Wolves. It was done so well and followed the book almost to the letter.

I love, The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings by Tolkien. I watched first the movies before reading the books.

It's a close tie between How to Train Your Dragon and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.

Now, if you ask me which one was better, I'd have to say Narnia by a long shot. But when you compare the awesome movie franchise that DreamWorks has produced and the complete and utter garbage that was the original book, you have yourself a LOT of improvement.

No offense to anyone who liked the book, but I personally found it to be mind-numbing - ly unlikable, crude, and downright poorly written.

I'm SO happy DreamWorks was able to make an actual decent movie out of it!

Most of the time, I find the movie adaptation of a book disappointing. However, there are some exceptions. My favourite adaptation is The Lord of the Rings. I loved it. :D

Probably the Harry Potter books. A lot of people either prefer the books or the movies, but honestly, I love both of them so, so much. They're different, yes, but both wonderful in my opinion.

The Harry Potter series definitely has to be my favourite adaptation. I've read the series 5 times since they came out and I could happily sit and read them all again tomorrow.

The films link closely to the books and yes, for some things they've changed parts and adapted slightly, but that wasn't a big deal for me. The books have a lot more detail than the movies, as all do, but the art of the movies and JK's writing isn't lost in these movies.

Both amazing in their own ways!

My favorite book to movie adaptation is, To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I consider the novel to be a true classic and feel that the movie captured the essence of the book. Even having read the book, I was on the edge of my seat with anticipation of what was to come next while watching the movie.

The Harry Potter series was just it for me too. Plus, it was nice watching the kids grow.
I just found out there are movie adaptations to several John Grisham novels. I really look forward to watching them.

My favorite book to movie adaptation is Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton. After that would be The Road by Cormac McCarthy.

I have to say that the adaptation of "Gone With the Wind" was excellent. I've read the book at least a half-a-dozen times and seen the movie just as often, maybe more. Nothing about the movie disappointed me or spoiled my vision of Scarlett's world.
