Better reading the book or watch the movie??

I always try and read the book before I watch the movie so that I can see what the authors vision was for the story before seeing the movie adaptation. Oftentimes it is dissapointing, but for a select few it is really interesting to see the book come to life.

I like reading the book first, so I can know the author's perspective and what they were hoping to portray. After I'll watch the movie. I'm usually disappointed in the movie after the book because obviously they can't show everything but lots of things are usually changed and it makes it hard to route for the movie after that. It's kinda like setting yourself up for disappointment honestly

The best way would be to read the book, then watch h the movie. However, reading the book always takes time.

It depends upon the situation. Sometimes watching the series first helps us picturise while reading the book.

Reading the book for sure. The book has each and every detail, but in movies, most are skipped! If you don't like reading book than you should probable watch the movie. BUT NEVER WATCH THE MOVIE AFTER READ THE BOOK, I repeat NEVER!

For me, it depends. My first choice is to read the books. This is because I find it so much more fun to lose myself in a world just as the author intended. However, if the movie adaptation is steller (as is the case with most anime), I might opt for the movie instead.

It depends most of the times. But I'd prefer books over movies. Reading a book before watching it's movie version makes me realise how I imagine the same thing differently and that's interesting, so I do that often. On the contrary, watching a movie first will hamper my imagination most of the times.

I always want to read the book first ! And almost always like the book better... There's a few exceptions of course. Recently was dragged along to see Dune in theaters when I hadn't had a chance to read the book first :x

There is a strong case to be made on both the sides in my opinion. Movies might leave a more lasting imprint on our minds than a book might but, it is also true that there are limitations to what percentage the movies can successfully represent the books. Movies could always have budget restrictions, possible casting blunders or one of the several other limitations. This is one of the reasons I personally prefer reading books and then watching movies. It is also because I enjoy comparing the visuals in my mind to what the director managed to pull off.

I have watched more movies that got adapted from books than read more books that got adapted into movies. I rather watched the movies first so that when I read the book, I don't get upset from the changes thy might have occurred but enjoy them. It is actually more hard on the movies when they're the ones make the changes.

I personally always prefer reading the book, I do watch the movie later but I am yet to find a single movie I enjoyed more than it's novel counterpart!

I usually like to read the book first but there are scores of movies for which I discovered that a book existed for it later, that is, after I'd seen the movie. I read the book if I liked the movie a lot!!
