Re: Rare
I dont know is it that uncommon. I went out to buy the books of both 127 Hours and The Social Network after the fact i had seen the movies, granted both movies were true stories so that may have made a difference but i would definitely consider buying a book of a movie having watched it first

LOTR was... fairly on target and a wonderful movie, but it's an excpetion. I still wanted to see Tom Bombadill.

One of my favorite books is The Dark Materials Series By Phillip Pullman and They made the first book - The Golden Compass - even had Nicole Kidman and it was terrible, just terrible.

If I were to choose a book to be made into a movie, I'd choose one from the action-suspense genre. I like spy (Bourne, not Bond) and commando movies. If the movie manages to ruin the story, at least I'd enjoy the action sequences.

I'm wondering if you have any examples of the type of thing you mean by this?Rest_In_Pieces wrote:Personally, I really like it when filmmakers just take one concept from a book or short story and roll with it, creating something different entirely.
Lovecraft's Re-Animator is a good example of this. The film took the concept of a substance which resurrects the dead, but had a totally different setting and plot progression. Really enjoyed that one.
