I think something that movies do well, and books cannot replicate, is the musical aspect or soundtracks. In a book, you'll rarely get the profound experience of associating a specific song or musical number with a character or scene.

Movies do better at capturing the overall "big picture" of what a book will describe for pages and pages. For example, the setting of a scene will be described for 2 pages in a book, but quickly be shown in a movie for 2 seconds.

Movies excel in visual storytelling, bringing narratives to life through cinematography, music, and acting. They offer a sensory experience, capturing emotions, and immersing the audience in the director's vision. While books provide depth to characters and inner thoughts, movies create a shared, visceral experience that can be both powerful and immediate.

I appreciate the immersive and visual storytelling that movies offer. They bring narratives to life with a unique blend of visuals, music, and performances. While books allow for a deeper exploration of characters' inner thoughts, movies excel in creating atmospheric experiences, especially with breathtaking cinematography and compelling soundtracks.

Sometimes i have a hard time imagining scenes in books and with movies i can understand more, especially if I accidentally watch a movie before i read the book.

Portray action scenes. I'll give an example. Lord of the Rings has always been one of my favorite fantasy books. No matter how much you imagine some situations in your head, seeing the action in front of you is another reality.

Movies bring stories to life with stunning visuals, special effects, and set design. And they can convey emotions through facial expressions and body language, which can't be expressed as well through words. Also, you can immerse yourself in a new story in a fraction of the time it would take to read a book.

Movies can bring visual grandeur and cinematic beauty to stories, making them more vivid and immediate than the imagination sometimes can.

Just giving me an actual visual of characters and events. I think I generally picture characters in books as certain actors.

Most of the time, books are better than their movies just because books contain so much description and we often get to see characters’ innermost thoughts and feelings, and you don’t really get that in a movie.

But there are some movies that are better than the books. I haven’t watched it, but I heard The Godfather and Jaws are way better as movies. Almost everyone has heard of Shrek, but most people don’t know that it was originally a book. Obviously that was more popular. Most Disney movies, like Cinderella and Beauty of the Beast, are better just because the stories are so short.

I prefer movies to books. Watching movies is usually more detailed.

Movies are less time consuming that books. They visualize imaginations. The scenes and images created in movies rarely forgotten one can always remember.

i think the ballad of songbirds and snakes was more engaging as a movie. i tried reading the book a while back and it got boring - maybe i’ll give it another go?

I think the visuals and the audio are a nice addition to the movies.
I also like the fact that I can watch a movie in the background while getting some other work done whereas a book is more hands on.

Movies have the ability to bring to life another person's vision or interpretation of the book and this can be a great intro to a book for some people. Though books often give you the space to make your own vision or use your imagination to interpret the books; it can sometimes be difficult for people to "get" the author's message and movies can be hugely helpful in such instances.
