I adore this series in its entirety. Although it was rather slow throughout the series, Tolkien's gift for story telling certainly gripped me as I saw all the scenes unfolding, and dare i say, much better than the movies. I know a lot of people loved the movies more, however, the world building is unique in every possible way and i was fully able to appreciate this via reading. His descriptive, beautiful language is an art form meant to be admired. Furthermore, i was thrilled to learn of parts of the series which were not included in the movies. It felt like discovering a treasure! The inherent nature of the series speaks of war between good and evil, and overcoming the odds despite unfavourable circumstances. These books also allowed for more time to bond with the characters and learn more about them. I felt very attached to the fellowship. I am certainly a fan of Tolkien and will recommend this series to anyone who loves fantasy, magic, action and a good laugh.

I found The Lord of the Rings amazing at times, but some parts really didn’t work for me.

My favorite bit is hard to pin down because-so many good moments! I loved any interaction between Gandalf and the hobbits. I loved Aeowyn’s Nazgul-stabbing cry: “I am no man.” I loved Pippin’s song, and Sam carrying Frodo up Mount Doom. I didn’t love the interjection of ‘interrogation’ on Sméagol by Faramir’s group that was not part of the book at all. I did not love Frodo’s moopy soulful looks at any point. I had to laugh at Legolas’ intense assertions of very bland phrases in Elvish, like “Something’s out there.”

For a movie that was based on a novel which made it very sensitive not giving it too much chance to drift away from the original plot in the novel else it would have been faced with lots of critics I think LOTR did good, great to say the fact and it couldn't have been any better.But their attempt to making more extensions to the movie (hobbit) was a total write off.

It might not be a huge part of the movie or a great moment but it surely is my favourite. It is in the first movie near the end. The moment is when Aragorn turns to Gimli and Legolas and he says "Lets hunt some orc!", Gimli exclaims "YES!!!" with excitement and honestly I feel that same excitement even if we know exactly what is going to happen. It is the start of a side quest and a new adventure.

My favorite moment was when Sam carried Frodo up Mount Doom—such a powerful act of loyalty and friendship.
What I disliked most was the pacing in some scenes, especially in the extended editions. Some parts felt way too slow.
