I think it is always a good idea to finish the book prior watching the movie, because books are original stories and usually more precise than most films.

I used to be such a strong participant of waiting until I finished the book before I went and saw the movie; however, I have recently changed my view on this. When I used to be sure that I read the book before seeing the movie, I always loved the book but typically spent the majority of the movie pointing out its flaws and where it strayed from the original book. However, my new philosophy is that if I instead watch the movie first and then read the book, I can be impressed by the movie and then be totally amazed by all of the details contained within the book and end up loving both separately.

I tend to do either or, depending on the series. If I loved to book, I will finish reading the series first. If I loved to movie more, I will do it vise versa.

Always...unless I don’t plan on reading the book at all. I would rather wait longer to see the movie just to get the book (best) version first (: plus it’s easier to watch a movie knowing what happens, I feel like if I watched a movie first it would be hard to sit and read the book knowing what happens, generally.

Yes that is me. Some movie will be different plot from book. Only small twist storyline from book. For example in the book written the male lead will die but in the movie shows that the female lead will die. So I will finish the book first then watch the movie adaptation and then compare the difference which one is better. Book or movie. But I more prefer original work.

I read the books first before their film adaptation because there’s only so much a film would show. And the experience is just better that way.

Yep, this is the rule. We have to get it from the source first. And then match up with our imagination outcomes.

I do. I have heard that they are planning to make The Son by Jo Nesbo is going to be made into a series starring Jake Gyllenhaal and so i want to read the book before that. Also the His Dark Materials Trilogy. Don't wanna watch the series before reading the entire books.

I’m trying to do that right now with Gone Girl. I’m listening to it on Audible, but I’m really tempted to go ahead and watch the movie. It’s on one of the streaming services I have right now and I want to watch it before it isn’t available anymore.

The book usually doesn't come to my mind unless the film was interesting in its premise or characters. I read the entirety of the Hunger Games, however it was never interesting enough to warrant me watching the film. I usually think of the film as a separate entity from the book, and don't think I require any special treatment because I read the book. It helps me watch the movie as a movie and make comparisons to it afterwards.

Sometimes. I have read the books first for some movies, but often I see them in theaters and if the movie is entertaining enough I read the books.

Me! I always decline invitations when friends invite me to watch a movie that's adapted from a book.
(I look forward to getting enraged when I see that something is not loyal to the book. 😂)
I even try to let them read the book, but they don't want to read for a long time.
So much for short attention span.

I always like to read the book before watching the movie. Which is why I haven't seen so many movies!
