HBO’s new series has been much better than the “The Golden Compass” movie, in my opinion. What do you think of the new series? Does it bring the story to life?
It’s unfortunate that HBO decided to jump into book 2 before the ending of book one. So far that is the only part that doesn’t follow to me.

I didn't read the books, but I saw both the movie with Nicole Kidman and the HBO adaptation.
Hands down, the HBO adaptation is better by a country mile. At the same time, to be fair, one had two hours to tell its story, while the other had eight.
Also, Daphne Keene is AMAZING.

I agree, Daphne Keene is incredible. She clearly is Lyra. I was so happy to revisit the story of my childhood and can’t wait for more. I have to disagree with the person who said that they shouldn’t have jumped right away to season 2. In my opinion, it’s a good thing to introduce Will and his world sooner. It makes it easier to understand for the people who have not read the books. But I understand it might have disappointed the memories you had of the books.

I liked it, not necessarily the best, A couple of issues here and there, but characters, themes, and directing cinematography were great.

Philip Pullman's series is riveting to say the least. I'm not sure if the HBO series matches up to the books in terms of being able to hold viewers' interest. Need to check it out!

To be honest, when the movie came out I was pretty young, and I found myself pretty fascinated with it - the whole "my soul is an animal" thing. I'll admit though that there I found the TV series to be more accurate. I did like the bears more in the movie, though.
