WHY DO YOU WATCH MOVIES?

Welcome to Films and Books Forum, the place to chat about movies, post movie reviews, compare a book to its film adaptation, discuss what makes a good book-to-film adaptation, and suggest books which you think would make a great movie adaption.

Movies can be a great tool for education. It exposes to climes and characters you never probably heard about.

To be honest I would rather read than watch movies. I think it's cause my imagination is quite vivid and I like to create my own vision of the characters. By saying this I don't mean I don't watch movies at all, cause a movie night or a series night can quite be fun and relaxing. Most of the times when I do watch movies is when it's referred by someone or when it's either a Marvel or DC movie. My other reason why I watch movies is when I finished a really good book and just can't seem to find anything that will kind of match what I read, or when I'm not sure of what genre I'm in the mood for.

Movies always give me an opportunity to learn something, see things from other perspectives and also help me get a break from reality. That is why I watch movies, they help me see things and learn from others.

Well, it's mostly because I'm bored. But sometimes it's nice to escape reality for a while.

I usually watch movies for entertainment. It's fun to get lost in a different world for a couple of hours. I also watch movies to learn more about other people, places, cultures, and eras. I watch comedies to cheer up. Sometimes, I watch a movie to support a favorite actor or actress. In addition, I love to watch musicals to enjoy the singing and choreography.

It's not something I've thought about very deeply, but for the most part, I watch movies for entertainment. Medical and legal series are my favorite, while I tend to lean towards fantasy movies.

I watch movies to entertain myself and most times to learn; there so many things I've learnt from movies.

I used to watch movies more than I do now. When I was younger my parents made a room in our house a movie theater. My dad even bought seats from a movie theater that was closing to make the experience more real. As I got older I have become a movie collector myself. However since my husband and I have been moving around for jobs, we have not collected many movies since our first year of marriage. Since COVID hit, we have only been to the movie theater a select number of times. I wish there were more movies that would grab my husband and I's attention so that we have an excuse to go out. But for now we thank streaming platforms.

I watch movies because I love them. I love how they make me feel. I love that I can have real emotions for fictional characters in fictional worlds.

I watch movies because they are a really nice way to cool off when I don't yet have the energy to read books.
