Aside from time, I think movies can give the audience a sense of awe and spectacle that is impossible to convey through written words. This is best seen in action, where a book can describe an exciting scene like flying fast in a jet, a movie can show Tom Cruise flying supersonic. Seeing an actor react in a dangerous setting with all the sights and sounds is very different from reading a descriptive action scene.

That being said, I think books are superior in storytelling. If you are looking for amusement park thrills, movies are the way to go.

Books send us into the minds of our characters while movies show us what they see.

Movies is better because it makes you feel you’re living in the story with all your senses feeling everything not just reading with your eyes

When I am watching a movie, i feel that the emotions are more true because when I read I usually makes myself as the main character so the thoughts and feelings are not exactly how it was said on books but on how I perceived it. Nevertheless, I love both watching movies and reading books, both great way to kill boredom!

Even though I'm a huge reader, I struggle with visualization. Movie adaptations give faces to the characters that I may not have been able to imagine before.

Movies gives facial expressions of the character and background music that elevates the moment at the time. Books... Well, you can create a playlist and try to imagine the scenes. Quite different.

Movies can skate by easier without great characters, stories, or ideas. For example, they may have an awesome score, visuals, etc. that make up for being otherwise generic. For me at least, a book needs to have one of the three at minimum, worthwhile characters, stories, or ideas.

Add mesmerizing soundtracks that make a scene more impactful. While imagining a book scene, that's the only part missing. Movies execute it brilliantly. Most iconic movie adaptations have amazing soundtracks too!

I feel movies are more expository, and you could actually connect to them quicker. Moreso I love movies and they're more entertaining and easier!

I like that movies can help get right to the point of what's happening or dialog between characters without needing pages and pages of descriptions of the surroundings or of people to set the scene and draw a mental picture. Sometimes it just becomes too much, especially if you're anticipating something coming up.

Movies are better at getting a story out. They reach a larger audience. Books can have more details than a movie. If the film has good effects it can create a very good adaptation.

Movies are just plain action, although they do involve pretty professional arrays of human artistry, whereas books rely on the descriptive and narratorial abilities of the author.

I couldn't agree with you more on this. Movies have a visual effect which is captivating. It keeps you glued to your seat and most likely you could drift in and out and still catch up. With reading, it demands your full concentration once you skip a few lines, you just might lose it.

In my perspective, I find movies' use of camera angles and shots to be rather effective - giving more suspense and setting the scenes better, however books on the other hand provide deeper meaning and complexity into the character by letting us know their inner thoughts.

Would like to hear your thoughts!
They do nothing better than books as far as I am concerned.
