Have any books or movies really scared you?

The book Jaws has the distinction of being the only book to actually give me nightmares. Granted, I was only 12 when I read it, but still...

Jaws also scared my mother, and she wasn't amused or appreciative when my aunt gave it to her to take to the beach.

The movie adaptation made by Stephen Spielberg also scared me.

Graphic war movies like Platoon and Full Metal Jacket also sometimes frighten me. I actually find them scarier and more upsetting than horror movies because I can't tell myself they're strictly make-believe. The Vietnam War was real, after all, and soldiers do get killed in wars -- often horribly.

The movie that scared me a lot is Annabelle series and Sinister 1. Up to this day, I cannot find myself rewatching it.

I never thought that I would be scared while reading a book, but then I met Joe Hill's Heart-Shaped Box. At first, I feel so brave reading it before going to bed, but after a few chapters, I cannot continue reading it. Up until now, I have finished three books already, and my bookmark still lies in that book.

I tend to rewatch horror movies that I have watched to overcome my fear but I just can't rewatch it at the moment.

Anaconda. The Mummy. The creature with the snake hair in Clash of the Titans scared me too.

The film version of Joan Lindsay’s book Picnic at Hanging Rock was absolutely chilling. It isn’t a horror story, but not getting answers to a mystery that could very plausibly affect any of us or someone we care about and having to live with that agony is far scarier to me than any traditional horror story.

I think Dead Silence was the only movie that scared me. But mainly because I was at the movies and a kid decided to put his hand on mine at a very wrong time movie-suspense-wise 😂

The Black Cat by Edgar Alan Poe gave me sleepless nights for weeks. The human Centipede is a film I wouldn't recommend to anyone. It is very disturbing 😥

I had to sleep with a light on in my bedroom every night for nearly a month after I saw the first Paranormal Activity back in 2009! Eleven years later and it's still the first thing that I think of if I hear something when I'm home alone!

Most of Stephen Kings books scares me, specially Duma Key. The Silance of the Lambs the movie and book alike was scary too.
