Quotes that felt like a knife to your heart

Post by Nupur Roy »

There are lines from old movies and forgotten songs that will somehow grow on you on a bleak summer afternoon. for me when Leonard Cohen said, " How can I begin anything new with all of yesterday in me? "

what is that line for you?

"There are chords in the hearts of the most reckless which cannot be touched without emotion, even by the utterly lost, to whom life and death are equally jests, there are matters of which no jest can be made.”
- Edgar Allan Poe
Imagine if we had no secrets, no respite from the truth. What if everything was laid bare the moment, we introduced ourselves?

From 12 Angry Men. At the end the 12th juror reveals that his insistence on finding the accused guilty is motived purely by his terrible relationship with his own son. The old man is shaking in anger and fear, gasping and crying as he says,
"I know how they are : how they can kill you every day! Don't you see? Why am I the only one who sees? I can feel the knife....going in."

Another juror looks at him with tears in his eyes and says,
"He's not your boy. He's somebody else."

So powerful, so awful.
