A book you love made into a a somewhat bad/disappointing movie...
Some of the movie-adaptations that were a disappointment to me: Twilight, Battle Royale and Misery.
What about you?

'The Mortal Instruments' disappointed me beyond words. I love the book, but the movie is trash.

I'd say the Harry Potter series. I LOVED the first movie, and it's still my fave. The second one was the worst, in my opinion--it just had some unbelievable dialogue early on from Mrs. Weasley, I felt like. No issues with the third one. The fourth botched Harry's relationship with Cho Chang. I got frustrated (for some reason) near the end of the sixth one and never went back. (I still haven't seen 7 or 8. Or the end of the sixth one, for that matter.)
I too went to see Twilight, and I just walked out of the theater half an hour in.
I'm not familiar with Mortal Instruments. Haven't read it or watched it.
Misery? OMG, that movie gives me the creeps. I can't watch it--too intense! But I haven't read the book, so I don't know if it was a good or bad rendition.

Definitely Ender's Game. I actually saw the movie first and thought that can't be it. Especially when, everyone was getting so excited about it. So I decided to read the book instead and I loved it so much, I read the quartet. They really dropped the ball with the movie.

Golden Compass was a poor adaptation. It just tried to cram too much story into a short movie and as a result, a lot of it didn't make sense.

Was that the book about Lyla? I haven't seen the movie, but I could not get into the book.

Yes that is exactly the book. It was written by Philip Pullman.

Needful Things by Stephen King. I loved the book, but the movie was awful. I shouldn't have been surprised. The book was so detailed; it's impossible for a movie to capture that. But still, it was really a disappointment.

Tee hee. I charge a nickel, like Lucy from Peanuts. Serious problems cost a quarter.

I think Eragon would have to be the worst adaptation I've seen. I read the book long before there was news of a movie (and I loved it), but it completely ruined the characters, plot, and everything else that was wonderful in the novel.

The Mortal Instruments and Percy Jackson. Absolutely terrible.
