I personally think Stephen King's It was responsible for many people's clown phobias. They personally terrify me! I was wondering what people thought about the original movie and now the fact that it's being remade but focusing mainly on the kids part of the story. Should it be remade and do you think it will be more true to the book?

When I first heard it was being remade, I rolled my eyes and again wondered why Hollywood struggles to come up with original movies and is instead in the slump of needless remakes. But the combination of Stephen King saying it's good and the trailer which makes it look good, too, has me more interested. Though I've never read the book. Maybe I should.

You definitely should read the book. A lot is left out in the movie and the book is much scarier!

The movie "It" terrified me of clowns forever. I can never look at clowns the same way again nor Stephen King for that matter. I have heard that his books are frightening and I have never read any of them. I am wary to try now, but maybe in the future.

The books, though scary, are different kind of scary to the movies. I found I could deal with the book a lot easier

I have not yet read nor watched Stephen King's "It" but I have read and watched some of Stephen King's best works like Carrie, Children of the Corn, Pet Sematary, and most especially, The Green Mile. I thoroughly enjoyed and got frightened by them all. I may yet read and watch "It" later on.

God, the book is pretty weird. I was afraid of the bath tube for awhile after watching the movie when I was little, and storm drains are scary AF. I think it was a good idea to focus on the kids for the new movie. I will forever respect Tim Currey's Pennywise performance in the TV movie mini series though.

Stephen King is the best when it comes to horror genre. I now remember why I don't like clowns.

I've seen both remakes at this point. I think both are good in their own way. Of course, the most recent adaptation is more modern and has better visuals and effects. However, I think the fact that they focused more on jump scares in this one took away from the psychological aspect that the original adaptation had.

So much of King's writing details come from the characters internal thoughts. It's never going to be easy for Hollywood to get it just right. I thought The Shining was the best and closest to that feel of the books. It more than made you jump. Misery captured that constant building pressure from the books that just never lets down. But I think by far, Stand By Me was the best film adaptation of his work. However I have not seen the new It and I read on a forum here earlier that Gerald's Game was turned into a movie. That's one I thought Hollywood would never touch.

The new "It" adaptation I found really good and compelling! Apart from the jumpscares...

I quite enjoyed "It" (2017) the movie... haven't read the book yet... but i'll make it a point to read it I guess - for comparison's sake maybe...

Though I got frightened for the first time watching It, but later at the last part when those kids got trapped and they succeeded getting rid of the so called clown I was moved. ,cos I got relieved though terrified.

I haven't seen the remade film yet, but I've heard bad things about it. My issue with remakes is that they never live up to the expectations our nostalgia creates. This story is best in its novel form anyway.
