Pirates of the Caribbean

Post by Jaime Lync »

So, I just finished watching the last Pirates of the Caribbean film: Dead Men Tell No Tales. I don't want to give any spoilers I'm just curious which movie is your favourite in the series and why?
In my opinion, The Black Pearl and at World's End are tied for first because they are hilarious and still quite impacting.

The first one will always be my favorite! However, I enjoyed all of them. If you like Pirates, may I suggest Black Sails on Starz. It was an amazing series. It mixes true pirate history with Treasure Island and it was just phenomenal.

The first is one of my favorite movies of all time. The third is better than the second and has some really epic moments, but overall the series is not improving with time. After seeing the fourth I am done with the series. So sad, really.

As to why, I think the first one is just a great, fun adventure story. The problem with movies two and three is they went too grim and depressing. And what was up with the "piracy is good" thing? Though the biggest problem was that in the first the story centers on Will and Elizabeth, and Jack Sparrow is kind of in the background of it all. It's where he works best, but then for the next movies, they pretty much make him the main character.

I think the last one was pretty much like the first but the first one is the best to me as well.

I really can't choose because my favorite character is Captain Barbosa. His character development is my favorite to watch in each one. I haven't seen the very last one so I don't know if he's in it or not.

I loved the rest of the franchise but not the last one. It had the same theme and I was not impressed at all.

I didn't really like the last one either. I kept looking at my watch the entire time I was in the theater. I loved the first one because it was the original and it gave us something new. They are beating a dead horse with each new one. Sad to say that the last one was a huge disappointment.

I agree, Black Pearl and World's End are my favorites too. Despite all the negative reviews of Dead Men Tell No Tales, I really liked it. I loved the humor and action, and I didn't feel that my money was wasted. I'd actually see the movie again. On Stranger Tide's on the other hand, was horrible, so, I don't enjoy these films merely because they're Pirate films.

1 >> 2 > 4 > 3 haven't seen the 5th latest.

1 was just so cleanly told, and later ones had messier and messier plots

I share you sentiments. I feel though that Dead Man's Chest and At World's End are one movie cut in half and made into two movies.

The first one will always, hands down be my favourite. It was so original and funny when it came out, I remember going to the cinema about 4 times to see it. The next few were ok, but just got a little too crazy. I haven't seen the new one yet, but I am sure I will go!
