I've never been a movie person, so I always go for the book rather than the movie.

I found my first influx of disgust with books being turned into movies with Dan Brown's Inferno. The movie went well, until the ending of the movie entirely ruined the the essence of the book. As in completely ruined it. The movie makers opted for the classic Hollywood ending and I felt that the books ending was complete defaced. It really enraged me to the point where I refuse to watch movies of books I have read.

I've been disappointed so many times by movies it's not even funny. I think what irritates me most is when the book describes the characters in a certain way and then the screenwriters go and mix up the looks of the characters. Eg. in The Vampire Diaries, Bonnie is a redhead and Elena is a Blonde in the books and then when you watch the series, it's a question of "how on this earth did they get it right to mess the looks up so completely"? I also feel it's insulting to the writer, as the writer put so much thought into their characters and then the screenwriters and movie makers go and destroy the image.
