The Wire: a TV series that feels like reading a novel

What do you think?

A month ago, I finished watching one of HBO's greatest masterpieces: The Wire. At times it became a bit slow, seemed to move away from the main plot, but in the end I ended up appreciating all those moments considering how they found its conclusion. The themes, the social commentary, that feeling of being completely immersed in the life across the city of Baltimore, the many characters and how their plots connect with each other, the depth of the mythology, the attention and patience required to absorb the story... I never saw a television series that made me feel so close to reading a book. I can't consider it as my series par excellence (even if it is one of my favourites) given my preference for shows with more action and suspense elements (except for some particular moments, sometimes it doesn't make you want so much to see the next episode out of that feeling that something big is being built), but its influence and its narrative have no comparison...

It really was an absolutely good one, one of the best. I love the story, characters, plot, themes, suspense, and what a fantastic ending.
