For me it's Benedict Cumberbatch who made the best Sherlock. Although I have a soft spot for RDJ's Sherlock too but liked the uncanny, neurotic Sherlock played by Benedict.
BBC did an excellent job I'd say.
As for Elementary- I haven't watched it yet.

Hands down, Basil Rathbone as Sherlock and Nigel Bruce as Watson. I grew up watching their version of Holmes, so to me, they ARE Holmes and Watson.
Ronald Howard did a great job in his TV series, but to me he was too young for the part.
Peter Cushing and Andre Morell did well too, but the didn't seem to become the character to the extent that Rathbone did.

My favourite adaptation is with Cumberbatch, although if we consider only the films would be with Downey Jr. Still waiting for a video game that really catch the essence.

The series starring Benedict Cumberbatch is my favorite adaptation because of its plot taking place in the modern world. It was very interesting and exciting to watch every mystery of each episode. I like his character very much and also the side characters. Although Sherlock talks really fast, so you have to read the subtitles really fast as well.

There are a lot of great adaptations but I am a HUGE fan of Sherlock from BBC.. Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are brilliant.

I actually watched the BBC show with Benedict Cumberbatch; it was fun and exciting. I loved his acting and the way he portrayed the natural arrogance of Sherlock Holmes. However, if I had to pick my favourite one, it's the Guy Ritchie movies with Robert Downey Jr! The cinematography was impressive and I enjoyed the way music was used in the action scenes. Its too bad it doesn't have a third installment, unless there will be one?

I really liked the movie and tv adaptations of William Shakespeare's character Sherlock Holmes. In some of the tv adaptations he has been portrayed as a very mean character with one stand that is not easy to change.

I appreciate diverse portrayals of characters. The modern adaptation "Sherlock" with Benedict Cumberbatch brings a fresh take, seamlessly updating the classic stories to the 21st century. It's a testament to the timeless nature of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's work and the adaptability of the characters.

I'm not very certain on this, but I think I'm fine with both Elementary and Sherlock. It's hard for me to decide what's best with things like this sometimes, and I guess I just don't mind.
