Which movie ruined a good book?

Paper Towns. I LOVED the book, it is one I have reread a few times, but the movie just couldn’t get across the same details or feelings. The tone of the movie was also very different. While I understand some of the movie choices such as why they didn’t include the sea world scene, I still can’t get behind it. The movie in my head was better than the movie produced, but then again maybe this is why I prefer books anyway.

Honestly The Hunger Games was ruined for me. The movie wasn’t accurate at all. The Divergent series is also a big time ruined movie. In the last book Tris does, but in the movie she doesn’t.

I agree. I forced myself to look at them as completely separate so that I could enjoy them.

Unfortunately, not all book-to-film adaptations hit the mark. One that left me disappointed was "Eragon." The rich world Christopher Paolini created in the book deserved a more faithful and nuanced adaptation, but it fell short of capturing the magic of the source material.

The entire Wheel of Time television series was an absolute error. The fans were really done dirty. There's almost nothing good about that adaptation.

I know people have said Percy Jackson already but Iit can never be said enough. The movie itself would have been fine as an original, if a bit cliché, but as an adaptation it was absolutely atrocious. Aging up the characters changed the entire heart of the story and made the characters so different I couldn't recognize them anymore if not for their name - not to mention the plot, which had absolutely nothing to do with the book plot and was cheap and predictable. The second movie was slightly better, but there was no fixing the franchise at that point.
