For me, both The Hunger Games and the Divergent series, but I also believe Allegiant ruined the book series so... no winning with Divergent.

It was 50 Shades for me too but because Christian was miscast. #notmychristian

The mortal instruments; I'm pretty sure it does not even have a sequel. There was so much magic, action, details and backstory in the book which were omitted in the movie. Don't get me wrong, I used to love it, as I watched the movie before reading the book. After reading the book, however, made me realize how poorly the movie was made.

Game of thrones. The first four seasons were okay but after running out of the source material things went south. I wish they could just have waited for George Martin to finish writing rather than rushing the whole thing

I am going a little further back and say Flowers In the Attic. The entire series of books were fantastic. But the 1 movie made about the first book, Flowers in the Attic, was horrible. I am thankful Hollywood stopped with just one

Twilight trilogy
The thoroughly enjoyed the book more, would have probably been a better TV series though

I personally think that the final movie of the divergent series was ruined. We didn't get the best scenes and it just didn't live up to the same standard as the book did. Another book that was ruined by the movie was My Sister's Keeper because the biggest plot points were changed to be more movie friendly.

The hating Game

It's a beautiful book which I would have loved to read but I watched the movie first. I thought it would be a little different from the book but even the names of the characters are same! It's a clear adaptation of the book however one has got to read the whole book to find the scenes which must have been deducted.

After. the book was such a masterpiece and creates this mind image but the movie wasn't as great as the book at all.

Percy Jackson. Both the movies ignored the source material. Hopefully the show will get it right

My latest experience of this was The Martian. It wasn't that the movie itself was bad, it was a good movie with good actors and good visuals. But they skipped so many important and funny elements out. I could only watch about half of the movie before it was too painful to continue. If someone resonates with the sentiment, then let me know!

My sister's keeper. Ruined the wonderful book by giving it a different ending in the film. I hated it.

Assuming he ever finishes the series. The last couple of seasons were pretty bad, but I can also think of much worse adaptations.

There are lots of them. Eragon was ruined because they cut some scenes. The last two seasons of Game of Thrones because the writers didn't follow the books.

Eragon. And I felt so happy to see it has been mentioned before in this post. I still keep the hope they may do a new adaption or series in the future (although I know it’s likely never to happen)
