Re: Book first or movie first?

I would read the book first, since I would still be interested in the director's take on the story. If I watch the movie first, I would feel like I had a condensed version of it and not bother reading it at all. I don't know maybe it's just me bring picky.

This question causes a dilemma...because it depends on the mood especially after work a thriller will do but when in need of ideas a good book will do. So both come in handy in different situations.

I first read the book. Sometimes the books are better than the movies.

I prefer to read a book first. If I watch a movie first, I lose interest in reading.

I definitely prefer the book first, and then the movie. The books always seem to be better. One exception was "Into the Wild" where I thought both the movie and the book were equally enjoyable.

Honestly, I would rather see the movie first. Going into the movie after reading the book will greatly influence my image of the characters, and since it's not possible to fully fill in the roles of fictional characters, It would affect my enjoyment of the movie.

I think I prefer the books first. I get to imagine the characters how I want. Watching the movie first limits my imagination of the actors in the role.

But either way, the movies always fall short in comparison.

Movie first. Reading the book first just leads to a lot of disappointment.

I would rather read a book first because you get to imagine the characters however you like. If you watch the movie first then you tend to associate the characters with the actors who played them which hurts the reading experience.

Definitely book first. When I read 'The Hating Game' I was completely happy with the details I created in my mind but after watching that movie it was pure disappointment. They left the small moments that brought them closer. I am happy that I read the book first.

I tend to see a movie first and if I want the more fleshed out version, I'll read the book. The movie then is like a sample for the complete story the book has.

The movie often leaves out some aspects which cannot be filmed. Books clarify this. I watch films first

I try to read the book first. Sometimes I re-read the book after watching the movie and its always interesting to see the characters in mind change from what I had originally thought they had looked like to whatever actor or actress portrayed them on screen.

When I can, I like to read the book first an then watch the movie because I don't want my vision of the characters and the places to be influenced by the movie.
