Non Fiction uplifting

Hey I am new to reading. I want something non fiction that is uplifting. Like something that shows the goodness in people or about someone who has complete faith trust and love in God.

I highly recommend Wretched Saints by Noel Jesse Heikkinen. He writes with a sense of humor, and uses modern analogies to explain what he’s talking about.

The Song of Bernadette

[From Wikipedia] ... is a 1941 novel that tells the story of Saint Bernadette Soubirous, who, from February to July 1858 reported eighteen visions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Lourdes, France. The novel was written by Franz Werfel and translated into English by Lewis Lewisohn in 1942. It was extremely popular, spending more than a year on the New York Times Best Seller list and 13 weeks in first place.

This is a novel, but the subject adheres faithfully to the actual nonfictional story of Bernadette Soubirous [soo'-beer-ooo].

I love Saint Bernadette! I chose her when I was 7 as my confirmation name. I have not read the book yet and it has been since I was little that I have thought about her. Thanks, I am definitely reading this! My family used some holy water from that spring for my brother, after years in Colorado and MANY drs they finally realizes it was Lyme disease from his vis to PA. He made an amazing recovery soon after the use of the water!

Hey! I recommend you to read a great underrated book called "The Elephant Vanishes" by Haruki Murakami. It consists on a recopilation of great short stories that really leave you thinking. You will have a good time, I swear!

I would absolutely recommend The Story of My Life by Helen Keller. It is her autobiography. Though deaf and blind, I learned that Keller is deeply religious and notices the good in people on a deeper level. It is a bit somber at times, but the book definitely ends on a good note. Keller's voice remains positive throughout, and I believe you will find her progress uplifting as well.

Try The Color of Water: A Black Man's Tribute to his White Mother by James McBride. It's a wonderful book. I recommend it to just about everyone.

I recently read the Altitude Journals by David Mauro. He is a mountain climber facing his own personal mountains also. Very uplifting, but not religions.

Max Lucado has many books that are Christian-based. My favorite is Traveling Light and He Still Moves Stones. They are the kind of book that you can read over and over. Very uplifting!

I'm recommending (i)Heart Berries(/i) by Terese Marie Mailhot. It's a memoir that follows Mailhot's very troubled life, and at first glance, it reads as far from uplifting. It deals with a lot of tough topics like divorce, toxicity in relationships, and mental breakdowns, and Mailhot is uncomfortably honest about her experiences. However, I found her memoir inspiring because she speaks truths that I am too afraid of speaking for myself. She is honest about her ugliest thoughts and meanest intentions. It is oftentimes uncomfortable to read about her messy sex life or the ways she lashes out at the world, but her bravery to write about these taboo and ugly topics is a comfort; her story becomes a resting place for the heart that is tired of pretending.

As for reading about someone who has "complete faith trust and love in God," I would encourage you to consider this: even John the Baptist, who was one of the first to proclaim Jesus as the Son of God, found himself needing confirmation of whether or not Jesus was the true Savior (see Matthew 11). It's okay to doubt sometimes so long as it doesn't beat you down. And sometimes you'll find truth in the least expected places.
