Mystery/Thriller novels with child protagonists targeted towards adults.

Post by Scapeghost »

I used to read a lot of ghost y/a novels when i was younger, and want something with a similar premise but longer, darker, and more mature than most y/a novels. Doesn't have to be about ghosts or the supernatural, doesn't even necessarily need to be horror, just a dark mystery novel with child protagonists. The y/a ghost novels i read where the "Everlost" trilogy, "Breathe." and "The hunt for the Seventh." Some other books i've read more recently that i like are the asoiaf books and the first two dune books. Outside of books, anime with similar premises as the books i'm looking for are "Made in Abyss," "Shadows House," The Promised Neverland," and "Erased."

Thanks!

Although these might not be too similar to the books you have read, Stephen King's Firestarter and John Saul's The Unwanted come to mind. Cassie from The Unwanted is a teenager if I remember correctly, not a child necessarily.
