Looking for great books by female authors

I would highly recommend the great late British author Helen Dunmore, which, regretfully, passed away much too early at 2017, due to the damn desease. She wrote fiction in various genres, including historical fiction, short stories and children novels, and she also wrote poetry. I read her novels - "the siege", "The betrayal", "Exposure", which are history fiction, and enjoyed them very much.

I think The MISOGI Method by Jody B. Miller is quite good and I will recommend it. She emphasizes stepping outside of one’s comfort zone to achieve success and live up to one’s true potential. Delightful read!

As a former English Literature major myself I agree that most of the literature one reads in college is by male authors but I do remember reading a few female authors that stuck with me. Those female authors and some of their works are:
- The Yellow Wall-Paper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman
- Jane Austen - any of her works
- A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry (a play from the 1950s-1960s)
- Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus (1818) by Mary Shelley
- Jane Eyre (1847) by Charlotte Brontë’
- Nella Larsen's work such as the Passing
