Books about real-life spies and espionage

I was recently gifted a copy of
Beneath a Scarlet Sky by Mark Sullivan and fell in love with this the book. (It is soon to be made into a movie, with Tom Holland as the lead. Yayyyy!)
I'm looking for similar books, and I'd love some recommendations from you guys. I'd prefer something that provides insights into the spies' emotional process, how they cope with being in constant danger, what they feel about their work, etc. Memoirs and autobiographies would be great. I'm also open to fictions based on true stories like
Beneath a Scarlet Sky.
Any suggestion would be much appreciated.

I recommend a couple of books:
* In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror, and an American Family in Hitler's Berlin/Erik Larson, a true story written as fiction about world war II, written from the POV of William E. Dodd, America's first ambassador to Hitler's Germany.
* The best of our spies /Alex Gerlis, a historical novel based on real events of the Second World War. The focus here is on spies.

Gali, they both sound fascinating. I'm going with
The Best of Our Spies first. Thank you for the great suggestions.
